Updates

How Khmer Keyboard installs new versions on its own.

Khmer Keyboard updates itself. New versions download in the background and are applied when you quit the app — there's no installer to re-run and nothing to check manually.

Set up

Nothing to set up. Automatic updates are on from the first launch.

How it works

New versions are signed and notarised by Apple before they're published, and an update that fails that check is not installed. Release notes for the version you're on are shown in the app under What's new, and listed on the changelog.

Limits

  • The app has to run to check. A version you haven't opened in weeks updates on its next launch, not before.
  • The input method itself is replaced with the app. After a big update macOS may want a log out before the new input method is fully active — the same rule as the first install.
